Now In Dumaguete: Miguelito’s Fried Ice Cream

After having a sumptuous meal at KRI Restaurant, we dropped by Robinsons Dumaguete to buy something. We then got curious on this newly opened stall on the second floor of the mall. We got a closer look on the stall and voila! Miguelito’s FRIED ICE CREAM!

We thought it was something like Panda’s Fried Ice Cream which is literally “deep-fried” with oil. But to our surprise, it’s another version of Fried Ice Cream because it is “cooked” on a cold pan. Lurking around the stall and observing, I learned that Miguelito’s Fried Ice Cream is actually made from a powdered mixture. The powder is mixed with water (and maybe sugar?) on a small blender, and then they poured the blended mixture onto the cold pan for it to freeze. So technically, it’s really not “fried”. Once it froze, they scraped the thin pancake-like ice cream and it looked like rolled papers.

They come in different combos with different kinds of toppings and syrups to choose from. The price range is from Php 25 – Php 40, depending on your desired toppings, but the amount of Fried Ice Cream is the same in all the prices. I had bubble gum flavor because I’ve never tried such ice cream flavor ever. I also had rainbow sprinklers as an add-on. Kim had chocolate and Onins had ube, both topped with chocolate syrup (hardshell) and rainbow sprinklers. Nomnomnom!

For a very affordable price, Miguelito’s Fried Ice Cream is really a good deal! The best way to treat your sweet tooth on a hot, scorching day!
